Student Readers: We had some 2nd grade student readers come and read to our class today! Great job girls!
We had a fire drill this morning...
Math:Today for math we reviewed all the shapes and the number of sides and corners they have. We also talked about how a square is a rectangle because it has 4 sides and 4 corners but it is a special rectangle because all 4 sides are the same size.
Writer's Workshop: We had time to write in our journals today. We practiced using our kindergarten "brave spelling." I am seeing great progress!!
IDEA: Have your child write or draw and label in a journal each day about something they did in school. This would be a great keepsake! :)
WE HAD MUSIC TODAY!
Reading/Phonics: Today we learned about the letter Oo and the sound it makes. We read the Alphatales book Olive the Octopus's Day of Juggling and worked on our letter poems. We brainstormed words that start with the letter O and listened to a fun song filled with letter O's.
Fun Packets: Today we learned about our fun packets. These are packets of worksheets and practice pages that I put together at each child's learning level. When they finish up an activity and others are still working, they take these out and work on them. I added math sheets, phonics, writing and also just some fun coloring and dot to dot pages. We loved them!!
Daily 5: We worked on building our stamina with work on writing again today. We are really doing a great job and will be ready to add all 5 parts of daily 5 by next week. Way to go Kindergartners!
Whole group reading: We talked about what good readers do and how they ask themselves questions as they are reading. We practiced doing this with the story Click Clack Boo.
