Thursday, October 9th

Character Education:  Mrs. Weninger came in this morning and talked about the final zone-the RED zone.  She talked about how all of us get there sometimes but it is not a good feeling.  Our bodies don't like to stay in the red zone so we need to find out what will help us get back into the green zone.  Some of the feeling words for the red zone were: terrified, angry, aggressive, etc.  We all were able to give great examples when we felt in the red zone.  She told us next time she comes we will be talking about "tools" to help us get back into the green zone.

Math: Today we reviewed shapes and sorted by whether or not they had curves.  We worked with our ketchup/mustard partners.

Writer's Workshop:  We FINISHED our name books today!  Great job Kindergartners!!

WE HAD MUSIC TODAY!

BOOK FAIR PREVIEW:  We went into the book fair today and browsed for books we would like.  We found some great books!  The book fair is open during the day and after school until 3:30 most days and it will be open both nights of conferences and during the day on Wednesday for conferences next week.  The kids can also put a guess in as to how many mints are in the dragon's jar.  Stop in and take a peek!

Reading/Phonics:  Today we learned about the letter Ll and the sound it makes.  We read the Alphatales book The Lamb who Loved to Laugh.  We also brainstormed L words and worked on our letter L poem.

Snap word: in

Social Studies:  Today we made our own cell phones with the numbers 911 glittered.  We practiced when and when not to call 911.  We gave examples on different situations and the kids had to decide whether they should call 911 or not.  This was great practice!
