Friday, October 31st HALLOWEEN PARTY!!

Character Education: This morning Mrs. Weninger and Officer Fox came in to talk about how to be safe on Halloween while trick or treating.  They talked about how to stay with an adult and look both ways before crossing the roads.  They also talked about how to stay safe if someone you do not know asks you to come in and how we say no.  It's very important to stay with an adult at all times. The kids had GREAT questions and did a great job listening!  I hope you all had a safe Halloween!

Technology: Today we practiced getting to the internet and Ms. Casebolt's website again and played a pumpkin carving game on the website www.abcya.com  Click   HERE   to check it out!

Math:  Today in math we did candy corn counting math!  Each student had a bag of 20 candy corn pieces.  I would tell them a number and they had to count and put that many candy corn pieces in the jar.  We really enjoyed this tasty game!  When we were finished we were able to eat a few pieces and take the rest of them home.

Writer's Workshop: Today we wrote about what we were going to dress up for Halloween.

HALLOWEEN PARTY!!!
For our party today we had 4 stations.
1. spider counting book- we stamped our thumbs with black ink to make the right amount of spiders.
2. Pumpkin feeding and decorating station- we decorated a pumpkin with stickers and markers and then fed the pumpkin (orange painted tennis ball with a slit in it for a mouth) ghost and pumpkin erasers.  This was a great fine motor activity.
3.  Monster drawing- the students were read a poem and had to think of the "monster part" that rhymed and then they drew it on their paper.  Nice rhyming kindergartners!
4. iPad pumpkin carving game.

Next we got to eat a "Frankenstein" pudding snack!  We mixed green food coloring to our vanilla pudding and added some crushed oreos!  YUM!!
