HALFY BIRTHDAY TO EMMA!!
Last Week:
We worked really hard on our Reader's Theaters last week. We got into groups of 3 and practiced each of our parts and on Friday we presented our stories to the class. We worked on ready with expression and reading fluently (like we are talking.) I am so proud of all the students, they worked so hard!!!!
We also had a guest reader who read Where the Wild Things Are, thank you Laura!
FYI: Grandpa Don who works 3 days a week in our classroom has not been feeling well for some time. He and his wife have decided to take a break from volunteering for a few months to try and get healthy. The kids were very upset and wanted to make him get well cards. I'm sure he will be smiling when he reads the cards.
Here we are presenting our Reader's Theaters!
We also had a guest reader...Mackenzie, great job!!!
TUESDAY, JANUARY 20TH
HALFY BIRTHDAY TO JILL!!!
Storybook reader: Today Marie Mavencamp read A Silly Snowy Day.
We had Phy ed today! This week the students are working on climbing the rock wall. Enjoy the pictures....
Math:
Today was iPad math day. Every Tuesday each child signs in to their own Splash Math account where they work on math games at their level. They really enjoy this day!
Writer's Workshop: Today we learned about Martin Luther King Jr and how he "had a dream". We wrote our own class book called We Have a Dream. Each child wrote about what they would like to do to help the world.
Book Swap: We went into the book room today and "swapped" our book box books for new ones to read during Daily 5. We were all very excited to get new books!
Phonics: Today we started learning about word families. Today's word family was the "at" family. We brainstormed at words and made our "batty at" book.
Social/Art: We created a Martin Luther King Jr. art project. Come check them out hanging in the hallway!
