Another wonderful week of learning! I am so proud of how much we have learned so far! Take a peek at our week...
Star of the Week...Alivia!
Storybook Reader..Amanda read Pippa the Pumpkin Fairy!
Math: This week in math we worked with our ketchup and mustard partners playing the game "match it." Early in the week we were matching shapes. One partner had to make an arrangement with shapes and then they would say "match it" and their partner had to create the exact same. Later in the week we played "match it" again but using cubes and number cards. A partner would pick a card and then had to create a tower with that many cubes and their partner had to "match it" and write the number. Friday we had iPad math day!
Phonics/Reading: This week we worked on the letters Gg and Hh. We read the Alphatales books, worked on finding the letters in our poem books and song charts. Every day we say our ABC chant using our puppet friend "Sharkie." On Thursday we met Sharkie's friend "Ralphie" who helped us with our letters.
Daily 5: This week we learned that each one of us can read a book. There are 3 ways to read a book, read the words, read the picture and retelling a story. We learned about our first part of Daily 5, Read to self. We each get our own book box and have a read to self spot in the classroom. We have spent 3 days now building our stamina. Our goal is to be able to read quietly the whole time for 10 minutes. So far we have made it up to 4 1/2 minutes. I am very proud of my kinder kids! We will be up to 10 minutes before we know it. After we meet our goal we will start learning a new part of Daily 5.
Fieldtrip to the Fire Station: Thanks to everyone who was able to join us on our field trip. We were very lucky to have a beautiful morning for a walk. We learned about some equipment they use, got to sit in an ambulance and sit in the driver's seat of a fire truck. I am disappointed that I forgot to get a class picture. Sorry about that!! I did some great pics though, enjoy...
Book Fair: On Friday we got to visit the book fair and "shop" with our eyes. We found some great books and finds that we are excited to share with our parents. The book fair will be open during conferences. Stop on in and check it out!
Pumpkin fine motor fun... We used push pins to create a pumpkin project today. This is a great way to build fine motor strength. We had a lot of fun working on this!!
Kindness in Chalk: On Friday, as a school we went outside and brightened up the sidewalks with pictures and messages that spread happiness and kindness. We talked about what images we could draw that show kindness. Come check out our amazing artwork!!
