A Peek at the Week...

Star of the week was...Levi!

Math:  This week we were introduced to 3D shapes!  We took a shape hunt around the classroom looking for 3D shapes in the items in our room.  This week we also did a lot of Halloween themed math activities.  We did some candy corn counting and also did some counting with bats.  We also learned about tally marks and to help us understand, we made "the human tally."

To study or snap words we learned a new game called "Cat and Mouse!"  A snap word was hiding under a secret word and the cat "Oliver" had to try and find him!  We LOVED this game!!
DAILY 5:  This week we learned a new part of daily 5 called word work.  We will be doing some work with our letters and snap words.

Character Ed: This week we learned about "brain eater." He gets into our brain and distracts us and makes us think about other things and not what the teacher is talking about!

Halloween...  We had a great party!  We started the morning by reading the story, Spookley the Square Pumpkin.  We then wrote about what kind of pumpkin we would grow. Next the afternoon was filled with Halloween Bingo, decorate a pumpkin, iPad pumpkin carving and draw a monster rhyme.  Next we went on a costume parade around the school, showing off all of our wonderful costumes!  We then had a special "Frankenstein" pudding treat! Thanks so much for the wonderful volunteers that came to help!  Happy Halloween!
