A Review of Last Week...

Math:
We measured items using paperclips, did an ornament graph, and learned a few new math games.

Writing:
This week we spent time writing stories in our journals.  We also wrote out our Christmas list and wrote about what kind of elf we would like to be if we would have been born an elf. :)

Phonics/Language Arts:
This week we worked on building and writing CVC words.  Ex. cat, dog, pig, sit, bug, etc.
We reviewed making rhyming words.

Elf on the Shelf:  Our silly elf "Chippy" had fun hiding and causing mischief this week.  He was spotted hiding on the shelf building blocks one day, another day he was caught hiding in the Christmas tree.  On Wednesday he was sitting on top of our smart board watching us closely.  Thursday we had a hard time finding him but we eventually found him hiding in our gum ball machine.  On Friday, we came to school and Chippy had decorated the tree and our tables with toilet paper.  What a silly elf!!

Santa Visit:
On Friday afternoon, Santa and Mrs. Claus made an appearance in our classroom.  We were ALL very excited to see him.  He started by having us do some fun sing and dance alongs with him.  There were a lot of giggles to be heard!!  I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Reminders:
On Monday we will be doing our reindeer games in the morning and having our "reindeer run."  This is where we run around the school singing "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer."  It will be a great day!!

Tuesday is our Polar Express Day.  PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD WEAR THEIR PAJAMAS!!  We will be making a train and watching the movie.  Also we will fit in our Holiday party as well as have a school-wide Christmas sing along in the gym.

We have had a lot of kids out sick this week.  Please remember to keep your child home if they are not feeling well.  Fever, coughs, vomiting and colds have been going around like wild fire.  We did a very thorough cleaning of the classroom so I hope that helps keep us healthy!

If you have not already sent in a book wrapped with your child's name inside, please do so ASAP.  We will be having our book exchange on Tuesday afternoon.  Please let me know if you are unable to send one in, I can get one wrapped for your child to use.

Your child will be getting a "Holiday Homework" pack sent home.  If they complete the packet and send it back after break, we will eat lunch in the classroom. This is always a hit! :)

I will be sending home ALL winter gear to be washed over Christmas break!  Please make sure your child has an extra pair of clothes to keep at school.  If they are in their backpacks will you please write a reminder note in their notebooks for I do not check their backpacks but look in their notebooks each morning.  Also, please make sure your child has a hat and warm mittens each day!

I hope you enjoy the pictures...
