Welcome to First Grade 2020-2021

I am so happy we can be back in the classroom!  We've been busy learning how to be a first grader at MLE!  Check back here daily to keep up with the latest and greatest first grade info!

A couple things:

You will find in your child's binder an orange sheet talking about signing up for our classroom Bloomz account.  Please get signed in ASAP so you do not miss upcoming reminders and some fun pictures of our first grade happenings!  Let me know if you have any questions getting singed in.  This app will primarily be just for our parent communication.  We will continue to use Seesaw as the year progresses as well.  Watch for more info at a later date.

Masks: Please make sure your child has their "school" mask with if possible- these we use for recess/lunch and phyed time.  This way when they get outside or get to the lunch room or the gym they can pull their masks down and not worry about dropping or losing them.  Many kids use "gaiters" as well.  These work great for the same reason- the kids can just pull them down when not needed.  I really appreciate your help with this.  We have been doing a great job and get many breaks through out the day.  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns regarding the masks.

Parent Night: Sometime in the near future (has not been set yet) I would like to have a parent meeting over Zoom to go over things that make our first grade class special.  This will be a time I will go over procedures and what to expect this year.  Watch for more info soon.

Distance Learning Plan for First Grade

Hello Families,

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/OQmzDPznaHijmRBeO2LWVCRm9lepXR2QjFxSwN-gfxk63tZ4HWNaCOSsO902Q6m-1eZEqGtWiOSTZg7O_BsRB8OGnPt80niLb3LzPCxx-YGObQkFKKdY_hk6Oie3CQoTYODOqH9xOur classrooms will be using SeeSaw to facilitate learning during this time away from the school building. Below you will find your directions on how to log into SeeSaw for learning. Please help your child get logged in to their SeeSaw account.  We would like all students to be logged into their SeeSaw Account by Tuesday, March 24th, so that we can offer assistance to anyone who needs help logging in.We have included a separate paper with your child’s SeeSaw login code.
It is required that you login to SeeSaw each day. We are taking attendance each day and submitting it to the office. Here are the steps you will need to take to get your child ready:

Here are other apps we will be using:

Sum Dog- Your child has played this game at school.  Your child came home with their login code already, if you need another copy please let us know. Please keep it in a safe place.  https://www.sumdog.com/user/sign_in.

Moby Max- Your child took the quick assessment in class (if they were here) so the website knows where your child’s learning level is.  They can work on these lessons at their own pace. If your child was not at school the day we took the placement test they can do that from home as well. https://www.mobymax.com/signin

Epic- This will be how your child will get new Book Bag books. Your child’s books will be at their reading level. You may notice the books may be one reading level lower than the level we are reading at school, that way they are successful at home with you. https://www.getepic.com/sign-in

RAZ Kids- Learning A-Z- This is also another resource for you to use for reading. This login was sent home or is included with this letter as well. https://www.kidsa-z.com

Handwriting Without Tears- We are still needing to continue our handwriting curriculum. Your child’s handwriting was sent home, it is yellow. Each classroom may be at a different place in the handwriting book. Another thing you could use to practice handwriting is the app called wet, dry, try. You can practice capital and lowercase letters as well as numbers. Be sure your child is    start

ing at the top of the letter.

Here are some important things to know:
1.    Our classroom materials/lessons can be found on SeeSaw. We will assign different work each day.
2.    You will need to sign in each day, we are still taking attendance.
3.    Thank you for being flexible. We understand that not everyone will be able to do their school work during school hours, so we will look at if you were active in the account the following day. For example, if you did your work at 6:00 Monday night, we would check the Daily Check In on SeeSaw Tuesday morning.

How to get in touch with us:
  1. If you have  any reason you need to get in touch with us please send us an email. Please email your child’s teacher and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Here are our email:
